Mohawk Valley Community College Basketball Showcase October 14th 2017 – First event, kick starts the 2017/18 season for the N.Y.I.A. Eagles

The first showcase for the New York International Academy (N.Y.I.A.) Eagles started with a short journey north to Utica for their first exposure opportunity at MVCC.

With a ton of college coaches in attendance, everyone was excited to get started and see what we were made of. Team conditioning was not a problem as everyone got into their groove on the court and played very well against experienced college-level players. This was a first time experience for them playing in a college gym against college level competition.

It was a humbling experience for the team as they all realize that this is only the start, that we need to put the work in and work hard at our craft.” Coach Evans, Head Coach N.Y.I.A.

Assistant Coach Harris believes that the players are all hungry to work harder and get better and playing in this showcase gives them a solid basis to work from,  he said, ” … it helps them realize where their strengths and weakness are and so helps them to focus on this during team practice and skills work“.

Everyone was in high spirits after winning some games and are looking forward to what opportunities present themselves in the season ahead.
